PARABUS

Hi "gigi"
You said you wanted the equivalent in Mexico. Well this is it! For a normal (pole-type) bus-stop, we would say "parada de camión". For the bus-shelter-type structure you mention, they are called: "Parabus" (plural would be "parabuses"). To make doubly sure, I called several advertising agencies here in Mexico City (they post all kinds of advertising..movies, products, etc.)and they all concurred in the term.

Hope this helps:-)

Saludos,

PARADA DE CAMIÓN

It´s me again. Should my message in Spanish not be clear enough.

I live in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and work as an in-house translator in an American Company which is full of ex-pats, many of which are Mexican.

They explained to me that a bus stop for them is PARADA DE CAMIÓN or PARADA DE AUTOBUS (this latter being less frequent).

For your knowledge/glossaries in Argentina we call them: PARADA DE COLECTIVO.

;=) Regards, aurora

Marquesina (in Spain)

I suppose this term is used in Spain only, but just in case you ever need it, we call that "marquesina" or "parada de autobús" (the first being more precise).
