Hi all,
I am translating a job offer from English into French for a position as an UX Designer.
One of the acceptable academic qualifications for that position is a degree in the field of "Computer visualistics". It seems that this is originally a German concept, which apparently is only taught at university level in one or two German universities.

How would you go about translating this? I've thought of "sciences de l'image" or "sciences de l'image numérique", something like that, but I'm not convinced.

My understanding comes from 2 ideas.
1. Having read the introduction to the paper (link number 1), one can deduce that the author talks about an abstraction that encapsulates everything that a computer can do with the "image" data structure (this expression is used throughout various resources on the internet). So that's the generation and the understanding of an image by a machine.
2. From the second link, the German name of this science would be "Bildwissenschaft", which translates to "the science of images". But as the book is all about computers, it can be expanded to something along the line of "the science of computer images".

Je ne connais que le diplôme en arts visuels, ça peut être ça, peut-être dans la version ordinateur. Mais ça peut être un "Master Informatique Sciences de l’image".

Le fait qu'ils mettent l'expression entre parenthèses laisse penser qu'ils ont du mal a traduire de l'allemand un concept qui semble tout nouveau et très localisé (Allemagne), or le terme "science de l'image" (la première chose qui vient à l'esprit) est plutôt bien établi (tout comme "infographie", "imagerie numérique", etc.). Bref, les termes usuels ne suffiraient pas pour traduire l'idée puisqu'ils ne les utilisent pas.
