in Italy they still say "Man" which I think would by now be unacceptable in English.

agree James (Jim) Davis : Vatican translations have recently insisted on "Man" (changing a 'PC' translation) in these cases. We have to follow our clients. Microsoft curiously uses "humankind". Of course the worst is "woman" originally "with man"
