- Herdenimmunität (von englisch herd immunity) bezeichnet in der Epidemiologie eine indirekte Form des Schutzes vor einer ansteckenden Krankheit, der entsteht, wenn ein hoher Prozentsatz einer Population bereits immun geworden ist – sei es durch Infektion oder durch Impfung –, sodass sich die Ausbreitungsmöglichkeiten des Erregers innerhalb der Population insgesamt vermindern.
